At a House Foreign Affairs Committee hearing, Rep. Gary Ackerman criticized how the military discharged scarce Arabic and Farsi translators after finding they were gay.

“For some reason, the military seems more afraid of gay people than … terrorists,” commented the New York Democrat. “If the terrorists ever got a hold of this information, they’d get a platoon of lesbians to chase us out of Baghdad.”
