The List
A Few weeks back I was turned on to a web site called Very Short List.com by So Many Books, So Little Time: A Year in Reading. (Yes, I am aware of the irony that I read a blog about books. When the last book I read was Green Eggs and Ham.)
Shaddup, Whaterva!
It’s a web site that will email you a “very short list” Umm, duh? The list is only one item long. It can be anything from another web site, a book, a band, a CD, a movie, a DVD, a TV show, a Web video, pretty much anything.
I thought it was interesting and I signed up and I have not regretted it since!
So far I have been turned on to a web site where I can see every sunset in the world. (Even though I prefer a sunrises because I think sunrises signal a new day, a new life, and new opportunities. Sunsets, although, equally beautiful, remind me of the end of the day, the end of a life or, the end of missed opportunities.
They have turned me on to the music of Okkervil River, Harp Magazine (I’ve never heard of it either) calls The Stage Names the best album of 2007.) I don’t know about all that, but it is a good album.
Another good website this list turned me on to is one called Oddee.com. It a web site that compiles the top “oddities of our world” The list says “No matter how zany the topic, the science and the people behind it are perfectly serious.” Some of the topics from this site are “The 10 Most Bizarre People on Earth” (I was surprised not to see some bloggers on this list.) The 10 Most Bizarre (but Real!) Personal Ads ever”) Those are just two of some of the best list ever. Check it out. You wont regret it.
I have even considers buying a book consisting of nothing but subway maps. I really don’t know why, but I want this book.
Those are just a few of the kick-ass things that this daily email has turned me on too in the last two weeks.
Do yourself a favor and sign up for it, you won’t be disappointed. You can browse their archives if you want to before you commit.
